Walter E. Stebbins High School is a four-year, comprehensive experience that offers college prep, honors, and Advanced Placement courses as well as ten award winning Career Technical programs. A large selection of courses and block scheduling provides maximum opportunities for over 1100 students to fulfill credit requirements while exploring unique academic and career interests. Nearly 85% of Stebbins graduates pursue higher education, many with prestigious scholarships. Seniors often receive appointments to U.S. Military Academies or are awarded full ROTC scholarships. Among this high school’s stellar features are an award-winning Air Force Junior ROTC program, an outstanding music performance program, and first-rate student senate leadership.
The staff at the Stebbins High School, in partnership with parents and the community, is committed to providing every student with the opportunity to obtain an excellent education that will prepare them for the post-secondary career pathway of their choosing. Stebbins High School offers a comprehensive curriculum that challenges students in all disciplines and affords them innumerable opportunities to learn and grow within a positive educational climate that promotes academic success and reinforces respect for oneself and others.
Students planning on attending a four-year college/university have many challenging course options to choose from. The school offers nine Advanced Placement courses and college preparatory curriculum. To support the educational programs of the district’s award winning career technical program, the design of the building includes classrooms for allied health, mechanics, engineering technologies, and a variety of other career tech programs. Many of these courses offer off-campus learning/work opportunities, and are articulated with technical colleges, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit for the same course.
The skills and habits students acquire while attending high school are also learned outside of the classroom by participating in extracurricular and athletic activities. Stebbins offers a rich selection of opportunities in both areas. Along with nineteen athletic offerings, Stebbins High School has had 34 students attain All-State Student Council status, and an AFJROTC drill team that has won 18 consecutive state championships and were national champions in 1997 and 2003. All of these out of classroom activities provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, communication skills, and skills needed to work as a member of a team.
