Accounting and Finance
A business education presents students with fantastic opportunities for success.  Students that study accounting in college have a very high placement rate after graduation, with abundant opportunities for advancement in the business field.  The accounting field is annually among the highest in terms of placement rates of college graduates. 

Students studying accounting typically compete for jobs such as Financial Accountant, Financial Planner, Banker, Stock Broker, Business Consultant, E-Commerce Strategist, Forensic Accountant, Auditor, Credit Analyst, Economist, Investment Specialist, Real Estate Agent, Underwriter, and Risk Manager. 

Accounting & Finance is a two-year Tech-Prep program designed to prepare students for a college concentration in business. Through a variety of learning methods, including classroom discussion, guided practice, individual and group work, and hands-on applications, the following skills and concepts are explored during the two-year program:
 
  • General accounting for a proprietorship, merchandising business, and corporation
  • Specialized accounting concepts including tax, forensics, and computerized accounting
  • Banking and credit
  • Investments including stocks and bonds
  • Financial concepts including risk, rate of return, capital, and government regulation
  • International business and foreign exchange
  • Financial planning
  • Economic concepts including the Federal Reserve System, and the economy and its cycles
