Mad River Local Schools is proud that all eight of its buildings have earned the Purple Star designation from the Ohio Department of Education

Mad River Local Schools is proud that all eight of its buildings have earned the Purple Star designation from the Ohio Department of Education, recognizing the district’s strong commitment to supporting military-connected students and families.

With this renewal, every school in Mad River Local Schools will continue to display the Purple Star as a symbol of our unwavering support for military families.

This designation shows that we are a military-friendly school district and have specifically trained our staff to understand, help transition, and support our military students.

Purple Star Schools help military-connected students transition successfully with measures that include:

  • Training a staff member to ease entry into the new academic environment,
  • Student-led programs to help create social connections,
  • A military family webpage on the school website to inform parents, and
  • Relevant professional development opportunities for additional school staff.

State programs may require schools to meet additional criteria such as holding school-wide military recognition events that encourage tolerance and inclusion.

For over 50 years, Stebbins High School has been a leader in Career and Technical Education (CTE), preparing students for a wide range of careers—from healthcare to engineering and beyond. Through hands-on learning and real-world applications, our programs equip students with the skills needed for success in the workforce, college, apprenticeships, or the military.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares Stebbins students for a wide range of careers, from nurses to machinists, and hundreds of careers in between!

For over 50 years, career-tech at Stebbins High School has been helping students find their place in the ever-changing workforce. Through practical application and hands-on learning we can help you find your way to an amazing career or to continue your education upon graduation.

Since 1976, Stebbins High School has been identified as a Career Tech Planning District (CTPD) with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. While students in other parts of the Miami Valley have to be bussed to their Career Tech Center, our students stay in-house and are provided with rigorous academic and technical programs of study in career pathways.  These programs prepare students for a full range of postsecondary opportunities (two and four-year colleges), entry-level employment, apprenticeships, and the military.

Stebbins Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are designed to help students get ready for a future career. Whether the career requires a university or college degree or other post-secondary education, students are prepared for that career in a hands-on educational environment that simulates the world of work. CTE teachers are required to have industry experience to qualify for certification. This means that students learn from professionals who have worked outside of education and can bring that sense of the “real world” into the classroom.
