    Treasurer's Office

Mr. Ellender is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Ohio and holds a School Treasurer license with the Ohio Department of Education.  He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from McNeese State University and has been a CPA for 37 years. Mr. Ellender serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the School District and is responsible for the financial and business operations of the District. He reports directly to the Board of Education.

What's involved in running the business of a school district? Well, aside from the obvious daily task of teachers educating more than 3,700 students (which, by the way, is no small task), we are a $60 million revenue per year company with over 500 employees. We also operate a Career Technology School within Stebbins High School, transportation service with 29 school buses hauling thousands of riders a day, a food service operation serving over 2,900 meals a day in 8 locations, a sports complex with multiple ball fields and gyms, a technology support division maintaining over 3000 computers, and a property maintenance division maintaining $95 million in property at 12 buildings and over 500 acres of property. It would not be possible to successfully accomplish all these activities on a daily basis without excellent management from all our Department Heads and their staff who work here at Mad River School District.

The Treasurer also serves as the "Corporate Secretary" to the Board of Education. In this role, all contracts, documents, and the official minutes of all Board meetings are kept for safekeeping. Board minutes are public records and are available for review on the Board of Education page of this website.

Interested in learning more about the district's finances? Check out the Financials link located in the column to the left. The School District operates on a fiscal year basis that runs from July 1 through June 30th. The fiscal year 2022 was from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. Therefore, the June 2022 Financial Report is the annual report for the Fiscal Year 2022.
