Transportation
During the school week, Mad River Local Schools transports nearly 2800 students from within 11 square miles of the District on 24 school buses and school vehicles to seven schools in the district!
To do this, we employ 20 drivers and three school bus para-professionals. Applicants must have graduated from High School, have a satisfactory work history, a clean driving record, a clean report from the Ohio State Bureau of Criminal ID and Investigation, the ability to work with children/people, be a minimum of 21 years old with at least two years driving experience, pass a State of Ohio SB physical, and pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol test. All Mad River drivers have between 27 and 45 hours of training with annual re-training, and every six years all drivers must obtain an Ohio State re-certification. We have one certified On-Board Instruction and provide all of our own training on-site. In addition, Amy Gibson.
The employees of the transportation department are all dedicated to the safety and well-being of our children. The number one goal of the department is to transport all eligible students to and from their destination most safely and cost-effectively.
The school has responsibility for students from pick-up to when they are released to a point of safety at their bus stop. Parents need to have backup plans in place when they cannot greet their child or children at the stop or their door.
What sets the Mad River School District's Transportation Department apart from other school bus operations is the quality of our dedicated employees. Any possible questions or concerns can be addressed by contacting us at (937) 237-4280 or by email at amy.gibson@madriverschools.org
