Parent Information

Parents and Community Members:

This is a gentle reminder that smoking is prohibited on school grounds.  It has come to my attention that parents and community members have been smoking on school property.  Visitors violating this policy shall be requested to cease tobacco use or leave the Board of Education property.

The Board of Education recognizes that the use of tobacco represents a health and safety hazard which can have serious consequences for tobacco users and tobacco non-users. In order to protect the students, staff, employees, volunteers, visitors, parents and guests from an environment that may be harmful, the Board hereby prohibits the use of tobacco at all times in or on all property owned and managed by the Board of Education.

Tobacco free means that the use of chew or chewing tobacco, tobacco cigarettes, clove cigarettes, cigars, dip, snuff, pipes and pipe tobacco and/or the smoking of electronic, "vapor," or other substitute forms of cigarettes, clove cigarettes or other lighted smoking devices for burning tobacco or any other substances is prohibited.

Property is defined as all school grounds, all outdoor facilities, all vehicles and all buildings owned and/or managed by the Board.

The use of tobacco is prohibited at all activities conducted on Board of Education property and on all school field trips.
